Like so many other entrepreneurs, shop owners at Zuidas are having a difficult time during the Coronacrisis. To sit back is not an option.

Several restaurants at Zuidas started home delivery services, now, flowers, tailored suits and wines can also be delivered to the front door.

Season Flowers

Maikel Mulder, owner of Season Flowers, (Gustav Mahlerstraat 401-403) always likes to give a helping hand.

Not just with his flowers, but even a matching (‘exchangeable’) vase.

Owner Maikel:” We are trying to keep our heads cool, but it is quite a challenge lately.”

Most days the shop is open.” But it is very quiet of course. We go back 20 years, but we have never seen anything like this”

And to keep business going Maikel started a home delivery service.

“Flowers always cheer you up, and you help us a little at the same time.”

Tailored suits

Just recently, ‘suit man’ Misura Sartoria started business at George Gershwinplein at Zuidas.

Eric:” Our shop is open, and as we had several digital plans lined up already, we quickly started to carry them out. Like a live-chat with one of our tailors for personal advice. This way, you can still upgrade your wardrobe for spring.”

As well as buying a casual outfit on-line.

“This week we had a photo shoot, so our customers get a better insight of what we can offer.”

“I am still in the shop every day”, says Liesbeth of Wineboutique& Spirits.” It is not easy. Our liquor store is based at Zuidplein, to serve commuters to bring home a bottle of wine as well as serving businesses in the area”. Both are not here at this moment. Not only the income has gone, but also contact with our clients, and that is difficult to take in for Liesbeth. “What I like best is advising people for example which digestive suits which dish, I enjoy these conversations”.

Now, Wineboutique is trying to reach out to the inhabitants of Zuidas. “Of course, the best thing would be if they come to the shop, but a good alternative is a phone call. This way, I can still give advice on which wine to have with their meat or cheeses. Next, we can deliver the orders, keeping the appropriate distance of course.”
