The hotel’s restaurant, Gordal, contributes to all this. The tastefully designed restaurant, divided into two floors, includes a rooftop terrace. Gordal refers to the hand-picked olives of exceptional quality, which grow on a small family farm in Andalusia. The Gordal olive distinguishes itself by its juiciness and strong flavour. A good metaphor with a direct link to the culinary culture of the restaurant. Just recently, Gordal restaurant introduced a new concept, which upgraded the authentic Spanish kitchen with a modern twist.
Every other month, Spanish chef Esther Lago prepares heavenly, mouth-watering dishes with daily-fresh and biological quality-products from a specific region in Spain. The new menu certainly reflects the Gordal vision. The menu includes a wide range of dishes offering a clear image of the Spanish cuisine. One can choose for a complete menu including a main course and a side dish. There is, of course, a child’s menu as well as a selection of irresistible deserts. All of these delicacies contribute to the feel of togetherness, enjoyment and fun.
It is not only the trendy environment and the food and drinks with the South-European character that make the Gordal restaurant to an attractive location. The varied mix of guests adds to the quirky dynamic. There is an enormous mixture of guests, from tourists to families and shoppers. “We find it very important to respond to everyone’s wishes,” says Food & Beverage Manager Jorge Mas-Yebra. Like the wishes of the local businessmen. During lunch-hours we offer a quick ‘grab and go’ consisting of healthy salads, richly topped sandwiches and Gordal bowls.
“Our Guests can make a choice from different signature bowls or put together their own. The primary element is sushi rice, quinoa or salad topped with either salmon, tuna, chicken or tofu. Subsequently, they can choose three toppings from the many ingredients and complete the bowl with a delightful dressing. This way we respond to those guests who only have a short lunch break. When the order comes through, it is served within a few minutes. By the way, for our recurring customers we offer a special loyalty programme.”
Life’s a celebration
There is a beautiful selection of tapas on the menu as befits a Spanish restaurant. From Patatas Bravas and tequeños, to albóndigas and gambas al ajillo. In Spain one says: life’s a celebration and we try to celebrate each and every day! What better way than to enjoy the home-made, with love prepared dishes with each other. These will be served on the middle of the table, so one can share and enjoy it together. The same goes for the appetizing Spanish meats and cheeses, which will be cut in front of our guests.
Whatever you choose, combined with a beautiful Spanish wine, a cool glass of beer or home-made Sangria you will feel like you are in Spain. Whether it is with your friends, family, or for business, the Gordal offers a sublime setting to meet. A variety of musical entertainment give the Friday evening a relaxed, musical impulse. A moment to herald the weekend in a festive way with food, drinks and dancing.
The specials Gordal organizes on the rooftop during the spring and summer are definitely worthwhile. This sunny spot has, among others, barbecues, live cooking events and live music on the calendar. Even the youngest enjoyers are thought of. In spring the doors are opened to enjoy the Amsterdam sun until October.
This rooftop terrace is the pearl of Zuidas and is the perfect place to organize business events and parties in the broadest sense of the word. You can, of course, also just enjoy a nice lunch, dinner, or drink. Even on this unique spot Gordal’s slogan goes: close your eyes and we try to bring you to Spain!
